Academics ~ Service ~ Tradition
Heritage Flex Academy is an independently operated, tuition-free, charter public school chartered by the Escondido Union School District.
Purpose: Empowering Parents
Heritage Flex will provide an education in the classical tradition and support parents in their quest to educate the whole child. This program combines classroom-based instruction with the flexibility and benefits of home study to create a rigorous and personalized learning experience for students.
With the combination of innovative teaching practices and a rigorous classical learning curriculum, students grow intellectually and develop strong character. Classical education helps students become lifelong learners as they study topics of personal interest, discover their passion, and develop a love for learning.
School Design: Personalized Support and Choices for Families
Heritage Flex includes the choice to participate in class instruction on our two-day program, or to complete home study five days a week using a variety of curriculum options. In order to ensure student academic success, each family is assigned an Academic Adviser (AA)—a credentialed teacher who oversees the program options for each student.
The AA assists parents with course and curriculum selection, facilitates regular meetings with parents and students, and is available for questions, consultation, and support. At program launch in August 2016, on-campus “Core Classroom” days are offered Tuesdays and Thursdays or Wednesdays and Fridays. Each student will have the opportunity to attend “Exploration Mondays” on campus.
This learning model supports parent engagement on non-classroom days and gives time and space for families to explore their children’s gifts, strengths, and individual interests. It also allows parents to enter the educational journey alongside their student and to remain the primary influence in their student’s growth in education and character development.
